Am I Pregnant Quiz

Suspected in Spain

by Lou GB

My husband and I had been trying for a baby for 10 months, which actually turned out to be 8 months when we worked back!!!

June 2006 we were going to Spain for 10 days to visit my parents for my 30th birthday. As they were driving back to the UK, we went with them as far as Northern Spain. The first place we stopped was Seville and it was here that I had inkling I was pregnant. I was about 10 days late for my period and so I told my husband. We decided that we would wait until we came home before doing a test so for the next 3 days I was secretly excited, although afterwards my Mum told me she suspected as much during the holiday. Mums know everything, don't they?

Anyhow, we arrived at Bilbao airport for our flight home and had some lunch with my parents before they carried on their journey through France. I kept getting these waves of strong nausea, just another confirmation in my mind that I was pregnant. We landed home very late at night and then early the next morning my husband was due to go away for a race meeting, so I had to wait another couple of days before he was back and we could do the test.

Monday 19th June 2006 arrived and I got up and did the test. It was positive. We were so happy but also a little apprehensive to begin with because no matter how much you get excited about being pregnant there is always that second of thought that goes to ...oh my god, we're having a baby, we're going to be parents... I kept on looking at the test throughout the day and also made an appointment to see the doctor as soon as possible.

I am now 35 weeks pregnant and according to my lovely midwife I've had a textbook pregnancy so far. I'm still working and intend to finish 2 weeks before my due date. My husband keeps looking at all the sleepsuits and bodysuits we've bought so far and getting really excited, which is wonderful to watch. He's going to make a fabulous Daddy.

I couldn't have asked for a better 30th birthday present.
